WHO AM I?
My name is Sena (pronounced: Seena). I am not the kind of therapist that keeps my personal life under wraps, I understand that with information today, anything can be ‘found out’ so I am going to be a somewhat open book for you.
I am from Florida and I lived abroad in Chile for 5 years. Now I live in rural Nevada with my husband and 2 young children, and the dog I rescued from the streets in Chile! Besides travel, I love yoga (I am an instructor), I love music and art, do it yourself projects, and food. And, you guessed it! I love people.
My life long passion for helping others led me to the career of mental health counseling. My academic background includes research in Neuropsychology and dementia, a master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling, and a certificate in Behavior Analysis. I got my license as a mental health counselor in the state of Florida after working for 3 years in various roles at a community mental health center in West Palm Beach, Florida, where I learned the realities of severe and persistent mental illness and addiction in the community.
My secondary life passion of travel led me to living abroad and therefore, building an online practice. When it came to finding my unique approach to counseling, I reflected on my side work as a yoga and meditation instructor and my specialty in behavior analysis and found Acceptance and Commitment Therapy- an approach centered in mindfulness and radical acceptance that has a rugged scientific basis in the behavioral analytic field, more specifically, in Relational Frame Theory.
I happened upon my specialty of treating anxiety disorders, phobia, OCD, and specifically agoraphobia after finding much success with this clientele when I began working online in 2016. I have helped many people change their relationship with OCD to a point of letting go of their compulsions and becoming much more engaged with more meaningful matters, and I have helped many people finally get out of their homes and become a much more active member of their community and family.
